Maple machinery has a wealth of wheel manufacturing technology. Today, let's enrich some small knowledge on wheel hubs
1. Different processes:
In the choice of mold, the casting rim uses sand mold, and the forging uses steel mold. Casting rim natural cooling processing, including deburring, appearance repair, polishing, etc. Forging is formed by stamping and then machined.
Casting technology determines performance. From the performance point of view, the forged wheel has higher strength, lighter weight, better filling capacity of the cast wheel, less shrinkage of the casting and higher compactness.
2. Different costs:
The
casting process is simple, the cost is relatively low, the forging process is relatively complex, and the manufacturing cost is relatively high.
From the point of view of the price, the same type of wheel is usually forged, which is much more expensive than low pressure casting.
3. Different weights:
Forged wheels can only be formed by continuous stamping process, so after forming its molecular structure will become very tight, so it can withstand higher pressure, so in the same size and strength, forged wheels are lighter than cast wheels.
To sum up, the production process of forged wheels is more precise than that of cast wheels, so forged wheels are more used in high-end automobiles.
How to distinguish between forged and cast wheels
The difference between forged wheels and casting is as follows:
1, style type: Forged wheel two-piece, three-piece type will generally be combined with rivets or welding (argon welding), the general rim and spoke color has obvious differences, it can be easily seen that the casting wheel is a molding and no color difference.
2, wheel back details: The forged wheel is the same inside and outside, the front and back are bright and smooth with a good metallic luster, and the front of the cast wheel may be very bright, but the back is dark, there are obvious traces of stripping or burr (however, it does not exclude the counterfeits now polishing the surface), some poor workmanship can be seen from the back sand holes or holes (but behind the painting or processing can not be seen). The back of the forged wheel is generally relatively flat, and the casting has a mold impression.
3, engraved information: information about the wheel (PCD, center hole, ET, etc.), forged wheels are generally located on the inner wall of the rim (most common) or the mounting surface, casting wheels are generally located on the back of the spoke (most common), the back of the rim or the mounting surface. Generally speaking, wheel hub information rarely appears in the inner wall of the rim of the cast wheel hub.
4, wheel weight: forged wheel through high strength forging, the same size under the same style, forged wheel weight is lighter.
5, percussion echo: that is, percussion method, with a small metal rod to knock the hub, forged hub issued a clear and pleasant echo, cast hub issued a dull echo.
6,The metal is heated before forging, the purpose is
The purpose of forging heating is to heat a metal material to a high enough temperature to make shape changes or improve the properties of the material. Forging is a common metal working process, by applying pressure and controlling temperature, metal materials in the plastic temperature range of plastic deformation.
